# 596 "Ethan Allen" Dovetail
# 596 - "Ethan Allen" Dovetail

At 3 3/8" x 1 3/16" this is not the biggest Dove out there, but is it ever a BEAUTIFUL piece of Hornstone !

There is a little use wear along the heavily beveled edges, mainly just that 1 spot near the tip as you can see, but the base is heavily ground + there is fantastic glossy patination !

I purchased this Dove from a great guy in the collecting community, Bill Craycraft, and judging by the initials I see on 1 side (MLT) it also once resided in the Milton L. Thursby collection.

More interesting is the EARLY provenance on this Early Archaic Beauty. This exquisite Dovetail is said to have been found prior to 1895, in Green County Indiana, and was reportedly found by Ethan Allen ! This was the Great Grandson of the Revolutionary War Hero by the same name.

This Dovetail comes with a Jackson Galleries COA dated 4/10/2011. This is an earlier version of a Jackson COA WITHOUT all the disclaimers on the back.

Great piece with Great history + provenance.   $285
